Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day for Canadians to commemorate the history and legacy of the residential school system. It’s a day to honour the resilience, dignity and strength of survivors and remember the children who never came home. It's a chance to engage and educate people about B.C.'s colonial history and how it has and continues to impact Indigenous communities.
In recognition of this day, the Langley Chamber is partnering with the BC Chamber of Commerce to invite you to "Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation", a virtual event designed to facilitate education, reflection and meaningful dialogue about the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system in B.C. and across Canada.
This year’s theme, “Walking Together: Shared Responsibility on the Path to Reconciliation”, highlights the ongoing journey we all share in building respectful, equitable relationships with Indigenous Peoples. Join us for a powerful session that invites reflection, dialogue, and action, deepening our understanding of truth and strengthening our collective commitment to reconciliation in our communities and workplaces. We are pleased to welcome Chief David Jimmie of Squiala First Nation as our guest speaker.
Tickets are complimentary, however we are hosting this in support of the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. Donations are very much appreciated and can be made during registration.
